The integration of AI into scientific work holds significant potential to accelerate innovation. We surveyed researchers in two leading German research organizations to examine AI adoption, barriers, and perceived impact on research. Researchers are widely using AI tools—often for primary and creative tasks—and many expect the technology to be transformative for research. Effective use, however, requires training, both through hands-on experience and dedicated learning resources. A persistent gender gap in AI use can largely be explained by differences in familiarity, pointing to a clear opportunity for organizational intervention. Legal uncertainty and privacy concerns also emerge as major barriers, with researchers calling for clear, high-level regulatory guidance. Overall, our findings underscore the importance of institutional action to support equitable and effective AI adoption in research.

With the arrival of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, intelligent machines are affecting the daily lives of multiple organizational stakeholders. However, despite the continued expansion of intelligent machines in society, management scholarship has generally lagged, and current frameworks are insufficient to provide meaningful guidance. We address this issue through a multidisciplinary review and a new framework of intelligent machines and value creation. We first discuss the characteristics of intelligent machines (autonomy, learning, inscrutability, and materiality), and how variation in these characteristics affects their affordances and, in turn, the value provided to stakeholders. We also introduce the concept of value contingency, which captures that the value provided by intelligent machines is conditional, and that stakeholder dispositions toward and utilization of intelligent machines must be considered when evaluating value creation.

A case study on the Chinese market for new energy buses demonstrates that the LLM-enhanced workflow outperforms traditional methods.

Using the CSRC annual random inspections as a quasi-natural experiment, this study finds that the risk-review effect of preventive regulatory enforcement creates regulatory uncertainty for business partners, reducing trade credit financing. The phenomenon is more pronounced for firms with weaker bargaining power, higher information opacity, or lower financial resilience. The reduction in trade credit is observed regardless of compliance outcomes, gradually dissipating as uncertainty resolves.

Exploiting the mandatory implementation of the EVA appraisal reform among CSOEs in China in 2010 as a quasi-natural experiment, this study investigates the effect of managerial incentives on firms' use of trade credit financing. We find that CSOEs use more trade credit than non-SOEs after the reform. The increased use of trade credit significantly improves EVA performance, further increasing executive compensation.
利用央企EVA考核改革为准自然实验,发现管理层激励促使央企更多使用商业信用融资以提升EVA绩效,并进一步提高了高管薪酬。为不同产权性质企业间商业信用融资差异提供了新的解释。

This study addresses how the relationship between market power and trade credit depends on a country's financial development level. Our findings reveal a U-shaped relationship, where monopolistic firms in countries with either underdeveloped or highly developed financial sectors are more likely to extend trade credit than those in mid-level financial systems.

Evidence from a Bayesian Panel Vector Autoregressive model on a large panel data set shows that brand equity has a powerful, lagging inverse effect on vertical integration, such that higher brand equity leads to less downstream vertical integration in a franchise system. These findings challenge traditional views (transaction cost theory, resource-based view, ownership redirection hypothesis).
